I know what games I like, and I stick to them.

The same goes for books, films, and every form of media barring music.

With games, though, Im aware theres a lot Im missing out on.

Shame of the Year - Ben

A new narrative RPG dropped?

A shooter with Apex-y movement?

Ill give it a whirl.

Vampire survivors werewolf mudman plant

A dating sim card game involving your favourite superheroes?

Yes, I playMarvel Snapevery day.

But this isnt an article about playing The Witcher.

Chat and a dragon from Baldur’s Gate 2 Shadows of Amn

Its the opposite, in fact.

And therell be plenty of those to come, dont worry.

Today Im trying to avoid playing The Witcher in favour of something Ive not tried before.

Triple-A Games

Towards the end of last year, I downloadedVampire SurvivorsandDwarf Fortress, but I havent started either yet.

Its a little daunting, Im not going to lie.

Theyre both games with prestige, but theyre nothing like what I would usually play.

PC

What if I hate them?

What if I bounce off before they can show their worth?

These are things that I shouldnt really worry about, but still.

There are new graphics and mouse support for the full release, but thats not really the point.

I think theres a lot of resource management, but Ill have to play it to know for sure.

Im not going to ignore games I know Ill like, though.

My most anticipated games this year are indie RPGsCassette Beastsand The Plucky Squire.

Ill definitely play Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom.
