For the first time in over 20 years, Christopher Nolan is going R-rated.
Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerwas confirmed to have an unexpected rating weeks before the film is set to debut.
This is the first R-rated film from theDark Knightdirector since 2002’sInsomniafeaturing Robin Williams and Al Pacino.
Even his other wartime dramaDunkirkwas not rated R, instead earning a PG-13 rating.
However, he quickly was pulled into the world of superheroes and high-concept sci-fi.
One could argue that, with this R-rating,Oppenheimeris the film getting him back onto that Scorsesian track.
Oppenheimercomes to theaters on July, 21.
